Power cuts are, and always have been, a daily issue on Koh Samui. Our electric supply is produced by the power station of Kanom on the mainland and delivered by massive cable under the sea. The growing island of Samui needs a more efficient power supply to guarantee that our guests will not have to face a blackout.
We are pleased to inform you that in March a new power cable was connected to Samui near Paradise Beach Resort at the Maenam transformer station. This is a part of a project by the power authority of Thailand in order to improve the general situation of Samui. During the following months, Koh Phangan and Koh Tao, who have been supplied through Koh Samui, will get their own cable from another power station to be more independent. This will help to avoid power blackouts in the future.
